LilyAnn Valentine is the daughter of Joe and Kristi Valentine. Throughout high school she was involved in 4-H, Marching Band, Concert Band, Art Club. She plans to attend State Fair Community College, after college she hopes to start a business or start some kind of creative project like writing a book, or selling artwork. What she’s looking forward to the most next year is, “Really getting out there. There’s only so much you can do in high school, even after turning 18. After this? I’m basically free to do whatever I want. I want to go see things, experience things I haven’t been able to yet.” If she could go back to freshman year, “I’d be more outgoing. I was really shy and anxious when I started high school (and I still am) but I’ve definitely come out of my shell since my freshman year. I really wish I would’ve been just a teensy bit more sociable.” Her biggest achievement was, “Making it into the top 15 of my class for three years. It took some work, and I am glad my work is being rewarded.” If she goes to her ten year reunion she hopes to have accomplished, “Hopefully I’ll have a good job and a steady income. And maybe I will have started one of those projects I mentioned earlier.” What she’ll miss most is, “Getting to be around my friends every day. And like minded people, on top of that. I feel like it isn’t easy to find such a large group of people like me out in the world, I’m thankful to those I managed to find in high school.” Her advice to a younger student, ”Don’t work too hard. Yeah, you need to get a passing grade. Maybe you’re even being pressured to be PERFECT. But this is just one chapter of your life. Don’t fill it all with work.”

Abbey Wilson, News Photography Editor
Senior Abbey Wilson is on her third year with the Wildcat news production. This year as a photography editor, she will be checking everyone’s stories to make sure they have their photos and captions as well as making sure photo assignments are set. She decided to stay on staff again because with it being her senior year, she wanted to keep going with writing and photography because she’s passionate about it. In her free time Wilson enjoys running, spending time with her family, traveling, working, watching “Gilmore Girls” and listening to music. What she loves the most is working towards her goals for the future and being a big sister to her four siblings. After high school, Wilson hopes to go to State fair Community College or Missouri State University to major in social work and minor in journalism.
