Many FCCLA students got the opportunity to go to Fall Leadership Convention in St. Louis on Halloween weekend. They enjoyed meeting new people, finding new things through fun experiences, and competing in three events.
Senior Vincenza Parsi said the experience allowed for some fun experiences with her chapter members.
“We went to the mall. Serenity, Amy and myself went to a mirror maze. Lilian, Lily and I were talking to people in the windows, which was very difficult to actually understand what the other person was saying. Lilian, Lily, Caden and I stayed up playing Uno and doing facemasks and talking to people through the windows. We also spent a lot of time walking around the hotel talking to people and finding new things,” Parsi said.
Many students saw Fall Leadership Convention as a way to plan and prepare for their future. They learned how to set goals for themselves, how to choose a good college, organization, and even how to prepare for their dream career. These skills are extremely important because they’re skills that could determine the trajectory of their future.
Sophomore Cayden Hockett said fall leadership convention was “a very good way to meet new people and make friends.”
In addition to learning and networking, the Warsaw chapter competed in three events. Banner design was completed by junior Lillian Bullock, senior Serenity Miller and junior Lillianna Perez. That team placed third. Food Art, completed by senior Amy Terry, placed third. Knife Skills, completed by sophomore Cayden Hockett, placed second.
“I am very proud of the kids for stepping up and competing,” advisor Kim Pate said.
