Many people grow up to have desires and passions that they strive to follow.  Here in WHS, we have discovered our very own talented writing artist that has such amazing skill.

Junior Jax Todd, is naturally talented with words and that talent is being recognized. Todd started to really enjoy writing after falling in love with reading good work.

“Well I really love to read, so when I realized that I wanted to be able to type and write the stuff I read in my perspective, that really made me see the love I had for writing,” Todd said.

Todd has found what is most important in his writing.

“I like being able to create an image in someone’s head that they wouldn’t be able to see in their head or perspective,” Todd said.

Todd has learned that good writing takes time and patience.

“Not trying to rush your writing, because when you get tired of writing, a lot of people tend to just put things down even though it could be better if you just take your time,” Todd said.

Writing teacher Amber Glenn has recognized Todd’s writing skill and creativity.

“Jax has been a stand-out writer in my creative writing class from the very beginning of school.  The vocabulary he incorporates into each and every sentence is undeniably impressive.  When Jax writes a story, I can feel what the characters are thinking, doing, and seeing, due to the amazing word choice and vivid imagery.  Not only are the characters brought to life, but I can hear the personality of the author within each writing piece. Jax is definitely finding his narrative voice in writing and I think that’s special,” Glenn said.

Todd says descriptive writing is his specialty.

“I’m really good at descriptive writing. I think I’m also very good at trying my best to write enough for a visual image for the reader,” Todd said.

While some stories get harder as grades and deadlines go on for Todd, he has learned to be in the mindset that it takes to be a good writer and what motivates him on an everyday basis.

“I guess what pushes me to be my best is that I strive for people to accept me. Writing has definitely helped me navigate throughout that stage. Along with what motivates me, is everything surrounding me,” Todd said.

His teachers have noticed his natural creativity with words.

“Jax’s mindset in writing is different from others that I have seen due to various factors.  He has the vocabulary of someone who has been reading for decades, which has impressed me daily.  Jax seems to be able to make words flow with very little visible effort.  I truly believe it is a gift, a natural talent,” Glenn said.

Everyday students that live everyday lives, consider things more important to them than others. When Jax was asked what his importance is in writing, he shows his true meaning.
