Playing sports, hanging out with friends, playing an instrument or starring on the stage are some of the things that made seniors enjoy their time in high school.
Senior Chloey Brazel’s favorite memory of high school was playing Glinda her junior year during the musical “The Wizard of Oz.”
“It was so fun to goof off with my friends on stage and have an excuse to wear a huge ballgown,” Brazel said.
Senior Eliana Jenson’s favorite memory from high school was sneaking a snack during a marching band competition her freshman year.
“I was performing for a marching band show at a competition but I snuck Cheez-Its into my instrument so during what was like a 20-measure break I had myself a little snacky-snack. I didn’t really get to do it anymore after that, though, because I kept getting parts with itty bitty breaks and big-as-heck playing sections. What a bummer,” she said.
Not all senior’s favorite memories were made during the early years of high school, but some during the very last.
Senior Gracie Miller’s favorite high school memories were made during her senior year.
“I really enjoyed all the memories made during my senior year, from painting jeans and attending Senior Sunrise to planning grad parties and talking about post graduation plans with friends. Those moments made my last year of high school unforgettable,” she said.
Senior Jessie Bilderback’s favorite memory was during basketball senior night.
“Having a huge crowd for basketball senior night and seeing some of my favorite people,” Bilderback said.
Not only do friends and memories get seniors through high school but also the role models and the educators who helped them the whole way.
Brazel is going to miss music teacher Deanna Schockmann the most.
“She’s like a second mother to me and has grown my love for music exponentially,” she said.
Schockmann is also someone Jenson said she would really miss from her high school years.
“Mrs. Schockmann, thank you for growing me musically. Choir was always a consistently fun class for me. Now that I look back on it, I can see all the progress I’ve made. I wouldn’t trade my time as your student for anything,” she said.
Senior Shayla Kindle got motivation from teacher Mason Dunaway.
“I would like to thank Mr. Dunnaway, he has taught me everything I need to know about the simplest things in life and how to become a better person and athlete,” she said.
