Most students have their own furry friends that they wait all day to go home and see. Whether it’s a cat, dog, or even a bunny, they love their pets. Some begged for a pet for years, but for others, it came as a surprise.
Freshman Raiden Dotson has a Dachshund/Pit-Bull mix named Lulu.
“My mom got her as one of my Christmas presents,” freshman Dotson said.
Sophomore Kaylee Jackson has rabbits.
“I was in Kansas City and we found some rabbits at a farm store. I really wanted a bunny,” she said.
Although Jackson got her cinnamon bunny from a store and begged to take him home, others unexpectedly fell in love. Whether they wanted a pet before, or it suddenly came as a shock to them, they love them just the same.
Senior Serenity Miller got her cat from her cousins who found him lying in a tire. She later fell in love with him and decided to keep him. Even though she didn’t expect to get another cat that day, she loved him so much that she would do almost anything for them. Miller learned to adjust to her struggles just for her cat, Marley.
“I’m allergic, but I’ve learned to live with it because I love him so much,” Miller said.
There are many things for students to love about their furry friends, including their energetic mood swings, their cute beady eyes, or even just having a furry companion to keep them company. Freshman Abigail Wright loves her dog’s personality.
“He’s very silly,” Wright said.
Many students, if they don’t have a pet, say they are yearning for one. There are many things for students to love about the extra company of a sweet caring pet, but there’s more to having a pet than just admiring how cute they are. Pet owners have to find enough time to put in the right care, which could be difficult for many students, especially for students involved in many clubs and after school activities. Some students learn to manage it just right.
”Everyone should have a pet because they make you so happy to just have a cute animal running around your house. But if you have pets you have to make sure they get the proper love and care and you don’t just have a pet to have a pet,” Miller said.
Many pet owners say they are worth the time and effort.
“I would say they are easy to take care of and they are loving,” Jackson said.
Miller said the joy she gets from her cat is worth the trouble.
“I love that he follows me around everywhere and he loves to be petted. He is so stinking cute,” Miller said.
