Project Graduation Class of 2026 is already in full swing on fundraising and has added new events this year to support the senior class. The group hosted a color run on Saturday, Oct. 11, which was the first time for the group to hold such an event.
Although not many turned up, those who went had big memories.
Junior Karly Keele participated in the color run. “The color run was really fun, I enjoyed spending time with my friends and family while doing it for a good cause,” Keele said.
”I think the color run was successful, we did well. I think if it becomes more of a tradition or annual event, it will get bigger and bring more people in,” project grad secretary Andrea Ferguson said.
“I think it was a good fundraiser but not very many people ran and only a couple seniors did it,” senior Naomi Yoder said.
“The color run is a great fundraiser because it allows a whole bunch of people to get together, but next year I would advertise it a little bit sooner and better,” senior Brennen Slavens said.
The color run fundraiser was a 5K (3.1 miles.)
“My favorite part of the run was finishing it. I would definitely do it again, though running distance sucks. It was fun,” Yoder said.
“I feel like the color run went fast, but was still very memorable,” Keele said.
Project grad is also hosting other fundraisers such as the Alumni basketball game,
Powderpuff, and Kansas City Chiefs raffle tickets.
“I am most excited for the alumni basketball game this winter because it’s always fun and competitive to watch,” senior Tanna Howe said.
“Our goal for graduation is an all-night drug and alcohol free celebration for the graduation of the seniors, so I hope everyone shows up and supports it,” Ferguson said.
