Maintenance director Tim snider installs a counter top in the new concession stand. The new space was ready before the start of basketball season.

The Booster Club built a new concession stand in the high school for events in the building.

“The concession stand was constructed so the cafeteria and boosters could have their own space. The cafeteria was gracious to share, but we were outgrowing the space with the concessions added to it. We now have our own storage as well,” president Michelle Larson said.

Booster Club secretary Andrea Ferguson said the group paid only an estimated $500 to create the new space for the concessions.

The junior class has worked the concession stand, along with the high school baseball and softball teams, cheer, track, and golf teams. During the Warsaw Basketball tournament, the Junior class worked it to raise money for prom.

“It’s more efficient and quicker; there is less space, so you don’t need as many people in the concessions at a time,” Business teacher and junior class sponsor Kim Pate said.

In addition to the new concession stand, Booster club also got a new point of sale system earlier this school year. They are using an iPad to track sales of items and profit. They have been using this new system all school year.

Money raised by the athletic boosters goes to support the needs of Warsaw High School sports teams. Booster Club gives each sport a food card for each year to buy student athletes food for away games.

“Teams receive money for away games based on the number of athletes and away games for the season,” treasurer Justine Howell said.

In the last couple of years, the booster club has helped fund the new athletic building for wrestling, softball, and baseball along with any other sport that needs to use the building.

They have also bought the timing system for track, hurdles, indoor nets for the golf team, and helped with the jersey cost for the teams every couple of years.

The athletic department is in charge of running concession stands in order to receive funds from the booster club.
