Christmas for Kids program going strong

Christmas for Kids program continues to benefit children in Benton County

Christmas is a joyful celebration, no child should have to go without the happy feelings of  waking up to no presents under the tree. Unfortunately, not every child has the privilege that some children do; that is where the Christmas for Kids program steps in.

Christmas for Kids is a local Christmas program dedicated to seeing that the children of Benton County have gifts. It was very rewarding for the people involved. Many of the volunteers got a sense of fulfillment from participating.

“Donating locally to programs such as Christmas for Kids is very rewarding. The program makes a world of difference in the life of a child, especially those children who

live in our local area. All of your support provides hope for families that are struggling,

especially during the holiday season,” program coordinator Chanda Chiles said.

Christmas is an amazing time of the year to donate to those in need. All around the world millions of kids go without holiday cheer. Several WHS organizations donate to this program, such as NHS and FBLA.

“The Christmas for Kids program provides gifts for children from birth to 18 years of age that attend a Benton County school, public or private. All proceeds stay local,” Chiles said.

Benton County Christmas for Kids is a non-for-profit organization under the Benton County Human Service Council. On average, they service over 650 children each year. They really look forward to providing Christmas gifts to children in need. They have been helping families for over 19 years in the Benton County communities. This program would not be possible without the generosity of great communities, local businesses, private individuals, and organizations.

“I have been helping coordinate the program for 16 years working with the Warsaw area. Dawn Jelinek coordinates the Cole Camp and Lincoln areas. We work together with many partners, organizations and individuals to manage the program,” Chiles says.

Donations are accepted all year. UMB bank accepts donations from individuals and

organizations. If you would be willing to help or have any questions, please call Dawn Jelinek
