Senior musician recognized for hard work
Senior Rickie Branson added new accolades to her list of musical accomplishments by making All-State choir her senior year and getting ones on her solo at state during her junior and senior years.
“She has accomplished a lot during her years at WHS! Her leadership and high standard of expectations of herself in everything she sets out to do should be a role model to her peers and the underclassmen,” vocal music director Charlene Million said.
Branson has had much success throughout her high school career. Some of the highlights of her high school years are West Central All-district choir two years, State one solo ratings two years, State one ratings on Branson SAB two years, State one ratings in the Ladies 6 all four years, Missouri All-state choir alternate last year, Missouri All-state choir member this year, Ranked first in the class of 2016, Bright Flight recipient and NHS president.
“The skills Mrs. Million and Mrs. Schockmann have taught me through music will help me in college and my future career. They have taught me the value of perseverance and patience,” Branson said.
Branson has been in Madrigal all four years in high school. Music accompanist Deanna Schockmann has also noticed Rickie’s excellence through her successful high school years.
“Rickie is a strong musician and leader in the soprano section and has been since I began working with her in eighth grade. She is very focused and always on task providing a good example to her peers. Rickie is always looking for ways to improve and challenge herself. I’m certain these qualities will serve her well as she moves toward the next step in her educational journey,” Schockmann said.
Though Rickie takes her next step into life, many opportunities open up with all of the accomplishments that she has achieved during her four years at WHS.
