One Last Song
Million directs final concert to complete 27-year career
Vocal Music Director Charlene Million directed her final concert at WHS on May 12.
The concert featured songs performed at contest where WHS large ensembles earned state 1-ratings. Small ensembles receiving state 1-ratings were also featured. Senior Lydia Schockmann won the Musicianship Award and Seniors Rickie Branson and Conner Wood were recognized as Top Female and Top Male Senior Vocalists. All together, 20 seniors were recognized at the concert.
The annual Evening of Song ended with a tribute to Million’s 27-year career. Million was honored with gifts of Diet Coke and gum from her students, speeches by Principal Randy Luebbert, former WHS director Lori Scott, former North Elementary Principal John Carelton, JBMS Vocal Music Director Jamey Derks, former North Elementary Teacher Marsha Eaton and various WHS alumni. The evening ended with Million directing returning alumni and vocal students in “Go Light Your World.” A reception for Million was held after the concert.
