Students came back to school after enjoying their summer break. Many students took advantage of the time up, soaking up all the summer time and a few got to find adventures through travel.
Freshman Hannah Cobb went to Panama City beach in Florida with her family. Going to the beach every year is a tradition for the Cobb family.
“My favorite part was spending my birthday there and going snorkeling. I loved seeing the ocean life, such as a star fish and a pink sea urchin,” Cobb said.
Senior Ayden Burdick soaked up his summer vacation in Maui, Hawaii for two weeks with his family.
“Spirit fishing was my favorite thing we did while there,” Burdick said.
Senior Adison Sherrill said her trip to Wyoming was a great stress relief.
“Going to Wyoming was a great getaway this summer. The scenery was beautiful and I enjoyed having a stress free week,” Sherrill said.
While in Wyoming, Sherill spent some of her time taking senior pictures.
“I loved getting the opportunity to take senior pictures with a beautiful location that we don’t have here,” Sherrill said.
Senior Brennen Slavens took a trip to Cancun, Mexico during the summer with his family.
“I loved soaking in the sunshine and family time,” Slavens said.
Leaving Mexico, Slavens came home with new favorites.
“I never would have thought I would like octopus, but I surprisingly enjoyed it and am really glad I tried it,” Slavens said.
Vacations gave students a wide range of opportunities that they might not get locally. Some even met new best friends.
Sophomore Braylee Cunningham went on a cruise to the Bahamas, Jamaica, and Coco Cay ,where she says she met new best friends.
“While in the teen club, which is an event for teenagers on the cruise, I met five new people that ended up becoming some of my best friends,” Cunningham said.
While vacations are known to be a great escape, sometimes stress comes along with that. Cunningham experienced last-minute stress with not being able to go to a certain planned destination on the cruise.
“It was devastating hearing that we couldn’t go to Hadi anymore because that was the place I was looking forward to the most, however it all worked out and I had the most amazing vacation with my family,” Cunningham said.
