Seniors find inspiration and motivation through influence of high school teachers
Over the years, students have many different teachers, but there will always be one that will inspire them the most.
For senior Anna Zimmerman her inspiration came from English teacher Amber Glenn. Mrs. Glenn has inspired her by always being positive.
“She’s inspired me by being such a positive teacher in everything she does. Always happy and always caring,” Zimmerman said.
One important lesson that Zimmerman will take away from Mrs. Glenn is to be patient and loving. When Zimmerman graduates, she will miss the way that Mrs. Glenn teaches and her classroom.
Senior Maddison Lawrence got her inspiration from math teacher Amy Spunaugle. Mrs. Spunaugle has inspired Lawrance to take chances and get out of her comfort zone. An important lesson that Lawrance has taken away from Mrs. Spunaugle is to always try something new.
“An important lesson I will take away from being one of her students is to try something new, even if you feel you may not be good at it, and don’t second guess yourself,” Lawrence expressed.
When Lawrance graduates she will miss Mrs. Spunagle’s kindness. “I will miss her warm welcoming smile, genuine kindness, and of course her silly stories,” she said.
Senior Jaxson Deckard was also inspired by Spunaugle. Mrs. Spunaugle has inspired Deckard by being kind and always there to help.
“She is kind towards everyone she meets, and she is always willing to lend a helping hand. She is passionate about her job and ensuring her students succeed not only in the classroom but in life as well,” Deckard said.
An important lesson that Deckard has learned from Mrs. Spunaugle is to come out of your comfort zone.
“I was very shy my first couple years of high school, but Mrs. Spunaugle and other important people in my life such as Ms. Swisher and my parents encouraged me to put myself out there and do things outside of my comfort zone. They saw the leader inside of me that I did not see inside of myself. I owe much of my success to them and I will be forever grateful that they built up my confidence,” he expressed.
When Deckard graduates he will miss being able to go to her class room for help.
“I will miss being able to go to her class, not to ask for help on math, but rather life advice,” Deckard said.
Senior Hazel Tompson got her inspiration from English teacher Teresa Arcisz. Mrs. Arcisz has inspired Tompson by always being there to talk to. She appreciates her “for the sole purpose of wanting you to succeed and move on from whatever it is that’s bothering you at the moment, regardless of how bad it is, or what might happen because of it. She’s like your own little confidential therapist when you’re in the wrong and right . . . I remember her telling me that we were ‘twin flames,’ which really made me feel heard as a person in general,” Tompson said.
Senior Manson Anderson got his inspiration from coach Cody Morgan. “He’s a good coach. He’ll run with you. He’ll do what you think you can’t do,” Anderson said.
One important lesson that Anderson will take away from Coach Morgan is “you can always get better.” When Anderson graduates he will miss Coach Morgan being there as a coach. “I started my track season with coach Morgan and my entire career, so not having my team or my coach there is very different,” he said.
Senior Samantha Harr gets her inspiration from career counselor Bobbi Swisher. Ms. Swisher inspires Harr by her positive attitude.
“She’s always just very positive and leads me in the right direction with college and stuff,” Harr said.
One important lesson that Harr will take away from Ms. Swisher is to always stay positive even through the hard times. When Harr graduates she will miss Ms. Swisher always in the library.
