When preparing for prom, many students begin to stress on whether or not they have enough time to get everything they need.
When the morning of prom comes around, students prepare for the night in different ways. Girls tend to start getting ready early, while boys find ways to unwind before a night out on the dance floor.
“For my friends and me, prom is truly an all-day celebration. We kick off the morning with coffee and breakfast, then start getting ready around lunchtime to ensure we’re perfectly photo-ready by the time we head to the harbor,” junior Gracie Miller said.
“After all of us wake up, we start the morning off with breakfast at Cosmic, then me and the boys go play some golf before we have to start getting ready,” junior Josh Harvath said.
Prom has a huge importance in students’ school social lives, by giving them a day to forget about everything, and just dance the night away.
“Prom holds a special place in my school life because it unites everyone in a shared celebration. It’s a day filled with anticipation and excitement, where we get to bond, create unforgettable memories, and celebrate the times of high school,” Miller said.
“Prom is one thing in High-school that you will always remember, and getting to help plan it for the senior’s, makes it even more important,” junior Shayla Kindle said.
“It’s a fun thing to do with your friends, and gives you a day to put all the stressful things behind you and JUST DANCE,” sophomore Sara Miller said.
“Prom is such an important event in school because it gives us a chance to make memories and leave it all out on the dance floor,” sophomore Maylee Slavens said.
The junior class has done a lot of preparing to make this night memorable for everyone that attends.
“We sold candy bars and pizza. We worked concession stands. We sold shirt ads. We sold tickets to pay for the caterer,” junior class sponsor Kimberly Pate said.
“It’s going good, we are trying to make sure we do our best on all the little details left,” junior Brayden Henderson said.
They have done a great job, but have hit a few bumps on the way.
“Something we struggled with was fundraising. We did not make as much money as we expected working concessions and selling pizzas,” Henderson said.
“Time management as well as committed help has been our biggest struggle. We haven’t had as many people that are devoted to getting things done but the few that have have made a significant difference,” junior Jessie Bilderback said.
The prom committee members feel that this year’s prom is different from last years in many ways.
“This year’s prom is unique because it’s being held in a barn, which is different from a traditional prom venue. Also includes an outdoor area,” Kindle said.
“This year we have a great student body who are going to make it the best,” junior Natalie Banfield said.
“I feel like we are a very closely knit group and there aren’t as many conflicts as most would think, we all are really hard workers too!” Bilderback said.
