National Honor Society had their induction ceremony on Nov. 4 to welcome 19 new members of the Warsaw chapter.
This year, there are 35 students in NHS with 19 students inducted into NHS this year and 16 seniors coming back for their second year. All these students have put many hours, hard work, and dedication into school . Being a part of National Honor Society is a great form of recognition for these students that represent Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character.
“It is an incredible honor to say that I am in the select group of individuals inducted into NHS,” junior Brennen Slavens said.
Being in NHS can also help students for their future plans as it can look good on a resume. It allows students academic success to stand out for jobs and colleges to see.
“I think being in NHS is important because it gives students the opportunity to advance in their future academic successes, as well as looking good for your resume,” senior Brylee Brewster said.
NHS stands as a beacon of intellectual rigor, a celebration of service, a paragon of leadership, and a champion of character. The students inducted represent the four pillars of Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character. To be welcomed into NHS, a student must be in the 11th or 12th grade, have a 3.5 or higher GPA, and pass a review process where discipline records, character concerns, and attendance is evaluated.
National Honor Society also has a student president and vice president. This year, seniors Ashlynn Adams and Drake Murrell tied for president, and senior Keira Mostaffa was selected for vice president. To be selected as president or vice president, you have to have above a 3.75 GPA, and also have to have good discipline records, character concerns, and good attendance. The students in NHS then vote on who they think the best fit for president and vice president should be.
“I showed good leadership roles to my classmates which led me to being elected as president,” senior Drake Murrell said.
NHS sponsor Daniel Waller is in his fourth year of being the NHS sponsor.
“My favorite part of NHS is doing our service projects,” Waller said.
