Senior Brylee Brewster has been aiming for a specific goal for quite a while now. On Friday, Nov. 22, Brewster achieved her goal, by signing her letter of intent to play softball at the collegiate level. Brewster has decided to attend D1 Missouri State University and become a Bear.
“It has been a long journey to get to this point in my softball career. I’ve been playing competitive softball since I was eight years old, and I’ve always had the dream of playing college softball. I’ve had hundreds of pitching lessons in my life,” Brewster said.
National signing day for all sports was Nov. 13, but due to conflicts, Brewster signed at a later date.
“Signing Day is an opportunity to not only make it official that an athlete has committed to a college, but also for their family, friends, teammates, coaches, and others to celebrate their accomplishment with them,” athletic director Ryan Boyer said.
Brewster will now be one of the few student athletes from Warsaw High School to sign a letter of intent to continue her athletic career at the next level. Her signing is a great reflection to Warsaw’s athletic program in many ways.
“It is always a positive for any of our athletic programs to be able to provide the opportunity for our student athletes to play at the next level if that is their goal,” Boyer said.
Throughout this journey, she has been through many coaches, supporters, friends, who have had the privilege to see her grow.
“I feel extremely blessed to be one of Brylee’s coaches throughout her softball journey. I will never forget her very first pitching lesson when more balls went to the backstop than her dad’s glove. On that night, I could already see how determined she is and her love for the game. She has grown so much as a pitcher, teammate, and person throughout her career. I have no doubt that she will continue to grow at Missouri State,” head high school softball coach Kelli Eierman said.
Brewster has expressed how important her travel softball coaches have been on her development.
“My travel ball coaches have supported me tremendously, throughout this entire journey and I’m very thankful for them,” Brewster said.
In addition to playing as Warsaw’s pitcher throughout high school, Brewster plays for an organization out of Kansas, called BC Peppers Fastpitch.
“I am blessed to be a part of Brylee’s journey; she will be successful as a student athlete. More importantly, she will be a tremendous female leader young athletes can look up to,” BC Director Jeff Wallace said.
Although coaches may have a huge impact on an athlete’s life, Brewster made sure to express her thankfulness for her parents’ support.
“There’s so much that goes into the recurint journey. But I’d really like to thank my parents for sacrificing so much time, money, lessons, late nights, camps, and so much more, to help guide me to where I am now!” Brewster said.
Brewster has been recognized as an all around, great individual and athlete.
“As her mother, I love this moment for her! She has a tangible result from all of the hard work, dedication, and sacrifice she has put in through the years. I hope that through all of this she will see what she is capable of and what she can achieve. Missouri State is the perfect fit where she will develop her athletic skills, grow in her faith, and prepare for her future career. We couldn’t be more excited for her,” Megan Brewster said.
As she signed her letter of intent, she was surrounded by many friends, family, coaches, mentors.
“I am so excited to be signing with Missouri State. I think God placed me there for a reason. I love the coaches and the atmosphere of the school. Go Bears!” Brewster said.
Brewster has nothing short of an amazing future ahead of her as we can all see. If you see Brewster in the hall, congratulate her on her signing to continue her academic and athletic career at Missouri State University!
