Summer is right around the corner, and students can’t wait to get out of school. Most students are excited to go on vacation, but some just want to work and make money. Not only are the students ready, but so are the teachers.
“As soon as school gets out, I plan on taking our fifth-wheel camper to South Carolina for a month. While in SC I will get to go to the beach, I will get to see my grandson, and I will get to tour lots of historical places. We should be back in time for the party on the Fourth of July at Cody’s Bait and Tackle. Then on the 15th of July, my husband and I will celebrate our 47th wedding anniversary. We will spend some time on our boat here near Warsaw (one of my favorite things) and then head back to Oklahoma to see family and friends for a week or more at our annual end-of-summer bash. This is a typical summer for us, meaning between big trips,” English teacher Teresa Arcisz said.
A lot of people love the fact that they don’t have to go to school. Students feel they don’t have as many responsibilities as they typically have during the school year.
Sophomore Ayden Burdick said he was looking forward to, “getting a break from school and hanging out with my friends.”
Summertime is when most students go on vacation. Many students have to battle around their work schedule and find time to go on vacation.
“I work for H&C Plumbing and Electric and the best part is it’s just fun working there. This summer I am going to Mexico,” senior Devon Boul said.
Students and teachers take advantage of the break for vacations.
“My favorite vacation has to be when I took a 12-day cruise out of Rome and toured Italy, Greece, Turkey, and Egypt. I saw the Colosseum, the Parthenon, and the forum. I saw where Paul preached to the Ephesians in Ephesus. In Egypt, I went to see the Pyramids, the Sphinx, and the Nile River. I also toured the Greek Islands. In Mykonos a squid wrapped around my leg! But right now, I am saving for an anniversary trip to Germany, Switzerland, and Poland for our 50th wedding anniversary in just three years,” Arcisz said.
A popular thing that students do in high school is that they like to work with their friends.
“This summer will be my first job and I get to work with Hailey Ferguson and maybe Maylee Slavens at Country Charm. It’s an easy job and the people there are all nice and welcoming but I’m most excited to be able to work with Hailey and hopefully Maylee too,” said Miller.
