Wildcats cap off a winning season
The football team ended their regular season with a record of 8-2 with their only two losses being against the Butler Bears and the Higginsville Huskers.
Some played their last season of football, but for others, they are advancing to the college level. Senior quarterback Tayten Boyer plans to further his career outside of high school.
“I am looking forward to continuing my career, college football will be a different type of style of football but it will still be a lot of fun,” Boyer said.
Although the majority of the team has played all four years together, the team added a kicker this year, sophomore Logan Gemes. Gemes came from playing soccer at Otterville to being the kicker for the varsity football team.
“Football is a lot more physical and mental than what soccer is,” sophomore Logan Gemes said.
With such a great season comes many great memories. Players reminisced about their last few moments together on the field.
“My favorite memory this season is mine and Gage’s touchdown celebration against El Dorado,” junior center Devon Boul said.
“Having a running clock on Buffalo for a conference title,” sophomore Drake Murrell said.
“My favorite memory is when we beat Hogan Prep,” senior running back Gage Whitaker said.
The Wildcats entered the playoffs as the second seed in their district. They reigned as conference champions after beating the Buffalo Bison 61-24. In their first round of districts they beat the El Dorado Springs Bulldogs 21-0 which then advanced them to the second round where they played the Fair Grove Eagles at home on Nov 5. They fell short with the Eagles scoring in the last ten seconds breaking the tie between them. The score was 14-22.
The Wildcats hope to advance even further next year and are making the commitments to do so.
