Many people go through life not knowing how big of an influence they have on people. While you may not be friends with everyone, the actions and comments you make affect everyone around you.
Our world can be so cruel. There are a lot of people that think, because they are higher than other people, that they deserve to be treated better than everyone else.
The kindness you put out into the world always has a way of coming back to you.
According to the Mental Health Foundation, acts of kindness can make the world a happier place for everyone. They can boost feelings of confidence, being in control, happiness and optimism. They may also encourage others to repeat the good deeds they’ve experienced themselves – contributing to a more positive community.
Kindness can increase your sense of connectivity with others while also decreasing loneliness. Being kind to others not only helps them, but it also helps better you as a person.
It’s easy to show kindness to other people, but you have to remember that you are a person too. Be kind to your mind and don’t put too much pressure on yourself. I know it’s easier said than done, but the better you treat yourself, the easier it will be to spread kindness to others.
“Being gentle with yourself means simply recognizing that we’re all human… Acknowledging that we’re all fallible in some way, and then acting accordingly. Instead of berating ourselves when we ‘mess up’ or things don’t work out the way we planned, it’s about treating ourselves with kindness and compassion,” said The Chelsea Psychology Clinic.
Even though some people will never understand the importance of being kind, you shouldn’t let them change the way you treat people. Treat others the way you want to be treated. Just because someone else chooses to treat people differently, doesn’t mean you should. Be a leader, not a follower. Make the choice that feels right for you, and maybe they will learn from you.
There are people out there who don’t care who they hurt or how their words affect others: if there are more people who choose to spread kindness, then we can overpower those who don’t.
