As our senior year has taken off, there have been many last activities and a change of perspective on the year. This is the last year that most of us will see and talk to our classmates that we’ve known since Kindergarten. As a change, there is no holding back for senior year. I believe that we all should take the time to talk to new classmates, make memories everyday, and live our last year in high school to the fullest.
From sitting at a new lunch table, to maybe even forming a bond with a new teacher, it’s very important to embrace the present and to enjoy our time with friends and the experiences, even while working hard.
Additionally, there is easily added stress to seniors all throughout the year when dealing with future plans/careers. A piece of advice is to not let the stress cause you to drift away from the people around you – they are important to rely on. We should all take one step at a time, rely on our support systems, and don’t let college rejections or fear of the future affect us. Along with that, don’t be afraid to ask for help too! Our teachers, staff faculty, and mentors are all here for us throughout this whole journey of lasts and making our plans for the future become our reality. A good reminder is to give ourselves grace, and recognize that it’s okay to not have all the answers. At the end of the day, everyone’s path is different and it’s normal to feel uncertain.
We should all view senior year as a key step in a longer journey toward adulthood, while focusing on the growth and lessons we will gain along the way. We must understand that plans can change. It’s important to have flexibility and direct our attention to what we can do, rather than dwelling on what didn’t work out.
